CHITRAL: Widespread rains and snowfall in all parts of Chitral district have brought routine life to a standstill causing blockades of roads and shortage of daily-use items, especially in far-off villgaes.

In the main Chitral town, the rain which started on Saturday evening turned into snowfall on Sunday morning, bringing the temperature further down and confining the residents to their homes. Besides, long hours’ power breakdowns in the town have added to the miseries of the people.

Reports said Booni and other villages of upper Chitral had received over one foot of fresh snow. As a result, all roads leading to sub-valleys of the districts have been blocked, causing numerous problems and stranding people in their villages.—Bashir Hussain Azad
