CHITRAL, Feb 5, 2010: To express solidarity with Kashmiris, a big public rally was held here after Friday prayers under the auspices of Jamaat-i-Islami.

The public gathering was presided over by Maulana Ghulam Muhammad, Amir Jamaat Islami Chitral chapter.

The speakers condemned and lamented dual policy of India as well as United Nations.

They said on the one hand the Indian leadership was claiming that their country was the biggest democracy in the world and on the other they were crushing democratic rights of poor and helpless Kashmiri Muslims and had occupied their territory illegally by trampling UN resolutions.

They demanded early freedom and independence of Kashmir.They asked the United Nations Security Council to play vital role in ensuring the freedom of Kashmirs by giving them the right to self-determination. They also demanded that the Indian army should withdraw from the valley.

Akhunzada Rahmatullah, Niab Ameer Jamat Islami Chitral, Maulana Siraj, Maulana Israruruddin Al-Hilal, Hidayatullah and former MPA Maulana Ghulam Mohammad spoke on the occasion.

A large number of people attended the public meeting and through a unanimous resolution demanded withdrawal of Indian military from Kashmir.--APP
