CHITRAL, Jan 28, 2010: Heavy rain followed by snowfall lashed Chitral valley on Thursday. Chitral town received rainfall since early in the morning which in the afternoon turned into snowfall.

As a result, the intensity of the cold increased compelling people to remain indoor most of the time. The rain and snowfall also disrupted flights to the town and there were reports of road blockades in many remote areas of the district.

The people of Chitral felt a sign of relief and happiness after the rain. This year’s winter has been the driest for the last few years, the people of Chitral congratulating each other through telephone and sms.--Bashir Hussain Azad
