Call for helping oppressed people PDF Print E-mail

CHITRAL, Jan 24, 2010: In a workshop held here on Saturday for the executive and district officers on human rights, the speakers stressed the need of consolation of the oppressed segment of the society as provided in the constitution of the country and preached by Islam. The workshop was arranged by Legal Aid Project for Human Rights (LAPH).

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, the chairman of the LAPH, Niaz Ali Shah highlighted the achievements of the organisation in the field of human rights since its inception in 1997.He said that the focus has been concentrated on the plight of women who faced severe violation of their basic rights. Mr Shah said that now the organisation has extended its sphere of activity to different strata of the society and endeavours to ensure that every member of the society is protected against any kind of injustice and maltreatment.

 

 

The facilitator of the workshop, Dr Inayatullah Faizi said that keeping in view the peculiar socio-cultural environment of Chitral, the degree of social inequality and disparity is at its lowest degree.

He put forward his suggestions and views regarding the issues of human rights violations in the context of government departments. The government officers also highlighted the various dimensions of the issues and offered their feedback.--Dawn
