Hashoo Foundation holds exhibition of teaching aids PDF Print E-mail
RAWALPINDI, Jan 15, 2010: A two-day exhibition on low cost teaching aids on early childhood development and education was held at Hashoo Foundation’s human development resource centre here, a press release said on Saturday.

The objective of the exhibition was to encourage teachers and parents to develop low and no-cost teaching audio visual aids through recycling of waste materials and available resources at the local level.

The trainees had prepared and put on display different items considering the theories, standards and guidance of Dr Maria Montessori, John Davey, Blooms and other educational psychologists.

They also created different learning corners on the occasion including EPL, culture, arts, mathematics, language and home corners. These reflected the learning areas in early childhood focusing on holistic development of children. This approach of teaching enables the children to think critically and research scientifically.

Schoolteachers, head teachers, principals, students from twin cities and other visitors to the exhibition appreciated the young teachers for their creative work.

To encourage the trainees’ efforts, the visitors also selected through voting the “Exercises of practical life” section as the best learning corner.

Since 2004, Hashoo Foundation has trained more than 400 teachers in ECD&E. As many as 80 per cent of them were able to get job after completion of their training and 20 per cent of the trained young girls established their own ECD centres creating job for other young women.
