By Our Correspondent CHITRAL, Jan 12, 2010: Representatives of the local government and different political parties have warned to resist government’s move of replacing nazims with administrators. Speaking at a local bodies convention here on Tuesday, District Nazim Maghfirat Shah, Tehsil Nazim Sartaj Ahmed Khan and politicians Maulana Sher Aziz, Saeed Ahmed Khan, Khurshid Ali Khan and Maulana Balinnas criticised the provincial government for “hatching conspiracy against the district government from day one and creating hurdles in its performances”. They said the local bodies system had ensured decentralisation of power and had empowered elected representatives of the people in real terms. They held bureaucracy responsible for weakening the system. They called upon President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani to ensure continuation of the devolution of power plan.A large number of union council nazims, councillors, leaders of political parties and civil society representatives attended the convention.--Dawn
